Mission: The Catholic Worker does not have a Mission statement per se. If it did it might be from Matthew 25:35-36. Sometimes known as the corporal works of mercy:
Feed the hungry,
Give drink to the thirsty,
Clothe the naked,
Care for the ill,
Visit the imprisoned,
Welcome the stranger.
At St. Thomas House, "welcoming the stranger" means we invite houseless families into our home and all that taking care of a home and the people within it entails: paying for rent, utilities, food, cooking that food, doing lots of dishes and laundry.
If you value this as well, please help us. We would love to hear from you.

More on what we do . . .What we do at the Catholic Worker can be analogous to a 3-legged stool—the 3 legs being Spirituality, Resistance and Community with each leg having not only action but values and beliefs as well. So what does all that mean?
For Spirituality, we study the Bible, we pray.
For Community, we house houseless families; we also, serve a meal Tuesday at 6:00 pm for anyone who wants to come.
For Resistance, we practice non-violence in resisting the dominant culture of the empire. We have a peace vigil Sundays at 2:00 pm and support other local peace and justice groups.
