Mission: Mission

To create an old-fashioned Kansas neighborhood in a new way.

Vision

We feel connected with and responsible for our residential environment.

We share the value and practice of ecologically responsible living.

We respect and give space to the life that members have beyond cohousing.

We are renewed as a cooperative neighborhood through celebration and support.

From www.ic.org/directory/delaware-street-commons-lawrence-ks/:

We began organizing in the fall of 1999. It took us seven years to build the neighborhood. We are an inter-generational neighborhood. We have edible landscape throughout. We get together in the Common House as a rule on Sunday evenings for dinner. We also have a number of other gatherings planned and more spur of the moment throughout our time together. Compared to many Cohousing Neighborhoods, Delaware Street Commons is affordable. We have a mix of owners/permanent members and members who rent. We have found enrichment from both types.
