Mission: TO OFFER SUPPORT AND NOURISHMENT TO ALL WHO ARE SEARCHING FOR A MORE CONSCIOUS, CREATIVE AND RESPONSIBLE WAY OF LIVING

From www.ic.org/directory/folk-art-guild-east-hill-farm/:

The Rochester Folk Art Guild is a community of people sharing the aim of working practically toward a deeper understanding of themselves and their purpose, based on the teaching of G.I. Gurdjieff. Our crafts and community life provide ways to cultivate a special quality of attention amidst the activities of daily life. This is the core practice of what is most often called simply 'The Gurdjieff Work.'

We live and work on a 350 acreare a farm in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York between Canandaigua and Keuka lakes. This Guild center is the home of an intentional community with an established tradition of organic agriculture, fine craft work, and personal development. Organic practices have been used in fruit and vegetable production for the 40 years the Guild has been at its current rural location. A seven year-old market garden with greenhouse sells to the community through farmers markets and a CSA. Projects include organic gardens, orchards, vineyards, food preservation (mainly canning and freezing), sustainable forestry & firewood production, general building & grounds maintenance and construction. There are also opportunities to explore the crafts that are practiced here - ceramics and woodworking in particular (though there are weaving, sewing, boat building and blacksmithing shops as well).

We welcome visitors who are sincerely searching for new ways to learn and to be - those willing to work hard and value the joys of a simple rural life
