Pleasant Glade

Pleasant Glade is an Intentional Community looking to add to its core group. Our community is designed to appeal to a diverse group of people who wish to live in a green community dedicated to sustainable living in a small town.
We are building a six-home community on 4.25 acres in the town of Tonasket in Northcentral Washington State. All of the highly efficient earth sheltered homes are being pre-built to "green" building standards. Each home will have an attached garage plus additional garage/storage space in the Community Building. The Community Building is also equipped to house occasional guests and contains a commercial kitchen, workshops, library, work area, ADA bathrooms, greenhouse, large meeting room, and dining area. Each member/family will own their own home and lot and will share privileges with other members on the remaining common ground (nearly 3 acres) and the community buildings. All members will share the cost of stewardship (taxes, insurance, maintenance etc) on the common areas.
The property has dedicated irrigation water which will be used to establish the permaculture landscape that will provide a large part of our food. We are located in an excellent agricultural area just 20 miles south of the Canadian border.
Most of the infrastructure; water, power, phone, internet and sewer was installed in 2011 and is in place to each lot. As of this writing (1-12-2016) the community building is finished, two living units are completed and occupied and the landscaping is in. We have begun construction on the next two living units and they should be completed next spring.
Our site is walking distance to shopping, schools, hospital, clinics, farmers market, library, and parks. Tonasket is a vibrant town of about 1000 citizens with very diverse lifestyles. It is the home of a long-standing food co-op and a cultural center dedicated to presenting healthy alternative programs, entertainment, and educational opportunities that benefit the entire community. Our medical community is outstanding and the hospital in Tonasket has an authorized Veterans Clinic, and an extended care facility.
It is our hope that, as an Intentional Community, we will be able to strike a balance between individual and community living, promote organic gardening, adhere to the principles of pemaculture, recycle, reuse, and live light on the land. Pleasant Glade members will belong to an association which will be the governing body and use consensus for decision making to establish rules and guidlines for The Community.
