Meet the neighbors:

Mission: We believe in finding a non-violent solutions to the exploitative system of production/consumption of modern society through:

-Personal Growth: Allowing members time for spiritual practice and self-care, and developing skills for conflict resolution.

-Self-Reliance/Earth care: using permaculture and low-tech methods of subsistence.

-Service/Activism: Spreading kindness to fellow human beings through charitable donations, protesting
harmful activities, political activism, promoting community projects we support, and providing a space for those in need.

From www.ic.org/directory/loving-earth-sanctuary/:

Located in the Santa Lucia Mountains, and a partner of Still Water's Sanctuary in Missouri, Loving Earth Sanctuary is committed to non-violently resisting the exploitative, consumption-driven systems upon which modern society subsists. We believe that to do this effectively requires us to cultivate personal growth, heal our relationship with the planet, engage in voluntary simplicity, and actively work toward an electricity- and fossil-fuel-free lifestyle, as well as to engage in service to our fellow human beings.

At this point our group is in the early stages of formation. We have 3 core members, 40 acres equipped with a barn, cabin, and working hand-pump. We are working to expand our small kitchen garden and food forest, and actively seeking anyone interested to volunteer, stay with us, or simply nourish their spirit on the beauty of the hills.

Our long-term vision is to have a thriving, almost completely self-sufficient system for meeting our basic needs respectfully from the land. In addition, we want to be a source of support for those in need for whom the rural lifestyle would be beneficial too. Possibilities we've discussed include creating spaces for recharge, respite, healing, and mourning. We hope to be an educational center providing learning opportunities freely (without a price attached) the skills necessary for living in a time of ecological uncertainty.
