The concept of this commune is to try to set up a place where many live in a building where they can do art. The building is set up to be able to do arts that are not easy to set up in an individual house or apartment: pottery, glass work, printmaking, jewelry, wood work, sculpture, metalsmithing. It is set up so that we can live and work here even if we had to have some job on the outside to survive we could still live for our art. I was looking at commercial property in Waterloo, Iowa, and there was a Nursing home for sale. Everybody gets a room and there is room for studio space. The entryway/dayroom is the gallery. Who could ask for anything more?
