Mission: Natural Farming
primitive living skills

From www.ic.org/directory/life-practice-natural-farming-and-living-directly-closely-with-the-earth/:

We are two people who have been on a journey into a truly healthy lifestyle for many years, but just recently made the leap of purchasing 20 acres an hour north of portland. We believe that by living close to nature, gardening or gathering all of our own foods, growing a spiritual practice and living with like-minded folk, we can be the best possible versions of ourselves.

Right now we are…..
-Designing and building a 150 square foot burmed in hobbit house out of natural materials on the land and excited about having people come out, help and learn!
-Planting tons of fruit and nut trees
-Growing about an acre of food spread out on different areas throughout the property.
-Planting every seed by hand with love, but do have a tractor on site for cutting trails and the really hard projects.
-Using a mix of Masanobu Fukuoka's Natural Farming, permaculture and our own intuition to design, grow and build.
-Living in a camper with a wood stove and propane burner while building our hobbit house
-Using a solar panel to power minimal electronics but are moving in the direction of living without any electricity.
-Living without refrigeration, so our food only stays as cool as the ground temperature.
-Spending much of our time in the forest, gathering berries and wild foods, listening to the plants and bathing and lounging in the creek.
-Drying herbs and making medicines.
-Buying less and making more with our own hands.
-Dumpster diving at organic groceries to supplement what we cant grow and save food from the landfill.
-Growing a more direct connection with the land upon which we live.

We believe that this space has many things to share with us, so we are practicing listening instead of imposing our will. Our intention is to learn how to live more and more direct with the earth every day, and lessen our use of all things industry-made.

We have decided on the pacific north-west for now and are looking to connect with anyone else in the area or any travelers passing through who have similar intentions for their life practice. Even if you don’t have intentions of living here, we enjoy guests and conversations with like-minded souls, and have a tipi set up just for visitors to camp in and enjoy the simple life. We enjoy sitting around the fire and cooking dinner in the tipi with visitors. We are hoping to attract those who are either familiar with or very interested in: hunting and harvesting wild edibles, building a tiny natural home on the land (cob, straw bale, yurt, tipi etc),hiking in and hauling materials by hand instead of driveways and drive-up service, living without electricity, primitive skill development, listening to his/her intuition, thriving completely off the land, practicing group meditation/breathwork/dancing, being truly honest with himself/herself and others, able to express how he/she is feeling, attempting to live in a compassionate state of non-judgement, working very hard when feeling called but also able to completely relax and take time to himself/herself. These of course are our ideals and we are still practicing them daily, please come and practice with us. There are many things to figure out and your input is welcome and needed.
