Mission: The focus of our community is to maintain a sanctuary for the practice of Maha-Anu-Ati-Yoga. This practice unites body, mind and spirit in seva: devotional service performed by serving our community with repurposed food and goods.

COMMUNITY DESCRIPTION: Morningland Monastery is a non-residential lay-monastery and spiritual community formed around the teachings of our guru, Sri Donato. Founded in 1973, we are an offline urban community that maintains a sanctuary of Healing, peace and meditation for the purpose of practicing Maha-Anu-Ati-Yoga, which is a Kundalini path. The Kundalini, the light of God in all people, is raised through the Shaktipat of Sri Donato through her spiritual successors, the Gopis. The Gopis are a monastic order of women who run the Monastery. Maha-Anu-Ati-Yoga is a practice deeply rooted in both Eastern and Western dharma teachings on devotional service as a spiritual practice. Seva, selfless service, is the cornerstone of our community and is accessible to all. Our core principles are non-violence, mindfulness and seva. Our seva is to feed our local community and surrounding city with repurposed food, goods and spiritual services. Each month, we feed hundreds of people. Most of our members maintain professional and family lives, and attend in the evening and weekend. Due to our urban location, members maintain private, small group residences. We do not maintain an internet presence and rely on word-of-mouth. Nor do we keep digital records about visitors and members; we are digitally unplugged in this regard. At a time when so much work and life require being online or on a computer, we think it’s refreshing to take a break now and then. Our sanctuary is a place to do this.
Our dharma tradition acknowledges and builds on the essential truths of esoteric Christianity, Yoga, and Buddhism. Our tradition is indigenous to Morningland Monastery. Our teachers, the Gopis, provide instruction in spiritual practice for self-realization that is sustainable in a busy modern life, and workable in a diversity of lifestyles.
Year round, we offer classes in meditation and yogic practices. Visitors are welcome to attend our weekly Dharma Talk where the ceremony of Shaktipat is takes place monthly.
