Mission: Emerald Earth Sanctuary supports a resident community that cares for this land and
holds it as sanctuary for education and cultural transformation.

From www.ic.org/directory/emerald-earth/:

Emerald Earth is a 26-year-old intentional community in rural Mendocino County. We have 189 acres of mixed redwood and hardwood forest; open, south-facing meadows with majestic oaks; two springs; a pond; and a seasonal creek. The land is held in trust by a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation.

Our values include sustainable living, simplicity, social and environmental justice, and reverence for the Earth and all living things. Our mission is to develop and demonstrate a model of living in harmony with the land and with each other. The original founding group was and is committed to developing our spiritual connection to the Earth through ritual, song, and seasonal celebrations.

We teach short workshops and longer professional training in natural building (including cob, strawbale, slipstraw, round pole framing, adobe floors, natural plasters, etc.) and permaculture. We are developing the infrastructure for 20 permanent residents plus guests, interns, and students. We use natural materials and our own labor to keep costs and environmental impact low. We are off grid, with solar and hydro-electricity, a cell phone, and satellite internet. We share meals, meet, and socialize in a common house that is still under construction. Each family or individual will have a small private cabin (six have been completed). We're also working on gardens, permaculture food forest, nursery, more ponds, etc.
