Meet the neighbors:

Mission: Work together as neighbors - for the common good.

From www.ic.org/directory/zephyr-creek-crossing/:

Zephyr Creek Crossing is a three/four family community located in central Kentucky in a beautiful, semi-rural area on a year-round state highway halfway between Richmond (home of EKU) and Berea (home of Berea College) Kentucky approx ten miles off I-75, 40 miles south of Lexington - close enough to commute to work and shopping but still out in the country. (Our nearest neighbors are about a city block away).

Andy and Sue B purchased a cute country cabin on five acres in 2008 with an interest in creating an intentional community in their retirement. Two additional living spaces were added and are now occupied and one more is in process. Communal areas include a shared laundry room, workroom/storage area and organic gardens.

The community arrangement is loose and we function under a rental agreement. Rules are minimal - common sense and consensual. We meet together occasionally for meals but chat daily over coffee or tasking. Opportunity exists to co-own with $$ and/or sweat equity, however, ZCC is presently more of a chance to experiment in intentional living before having to make a huge commitment - but the possibility exists.

Fees equal approx $575-600 a month, plus residents are asked to put in a min. 4 hours per month into the development of the community. WIFI is included but cell phones don't come in well so a land line is shared.

Our long-term community goals include self-sufficiency, working together for the common good plus becoming more socially and environmentally conscious. Residents should have a regular income source and your own transportation (we occasionally share trips - but there is no public transportation).

Our organic gardens now contain strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and goji berries, a small fruit orchard and large vegetable gardens. Chickens provide eggs and occasional meat to residents plus we also sell eggs and use their manure in the gardens.

Occasionally we do have vacancies - if you are interested - contact Sue Peterson Blyth at sweetsue49 @gmail.com or call 859 328 3805.
