Washington Commons CohousingA group of enthusiastic community members are working to advance a walkable urban multi-story project across the Sacramento River from Downtown Sacramento. Our goal is to create a strong community open to all ages with a blend of privacy and community for those working, recreating, and wishing to live in the Downtown core. Early participation in our community will give members an opportunity to help shape the character of the community and the design of our project.
Our project site is in the historic Washington neighborhood two blocks from the river, its trails and parkways, just north of the Tower Bridge. The neighborhood is part of the exciting, emerging riverfront district on both sides of the river. Downtown Sacramento, Old Sacramento, the State Capitol, and numerous museums including the Crocker Art Museum, restaurants and event venues such as the new Golden 1 NBA arena are a short walk across the bridge from the site. On the West Sacramento side of the river, in addition to parks and trails, Triple A baseball Raley Field, event venue The Barn, West Sacramento Community Center, Yolo County Library branch as well as shops and restaurants, are within walking distance.
We are growing and expect to begin the architectural design process soon. We are working with national cohousing expert, Kathryn McCamant, CoHousing Solutions.
Come meet with us and explore becoming a member of our community. As a member you will help us shape our community and project. Check our website for upcoming events.
