Mission: Traditional Cohousing

From www.ic.org/directory/bay-state-commons/:

Bay State Commons is a new cohousing community currently forming with plans to build a 30-unit building in the Boston Metro North suburb of Malden, Massachusetts. We hold an Option to Purchase agreement for the American Legion site at 368 Pleasant Street in Malden, MA. We are actively seeking new members as we apply for our permits, with the goal to being construction later this year, and move into our building by mid-2019. The location is 750 feet from the Malden T stop, 20 minutes to downtown Boston and a short walk to groceries, restaurants, public parks, and public and charter schools. It is one mile from the Middlesex Fells, a 2,200 acre state park.

We intend to create a cohousing community which fosters group cohesiveness and serendipitous social interaction between neighbors.

We envision a community in Boston's Metro North area with a small-town character and an emphasis on beauty in both architecture and landscape.

We value a balance between the private and the shared, with individually-owned homes supplemented by extensive common facilities and shared green space.

We seek a diverse, multigenerational community with residents who are eager to participate in both design and governance.
