Mission: shared land and values
From www.ic.org/directory/monans-rill/:
The goal of Monan's Rill is having a balanced and diverse community reflecting a variety of ages, occupations, marital statuses, and family structures (some households have children and others do not). Our ages range from young children to people in their eighties.
We work as teachers, psychotherapists, administrators, nurses, medical technologists, cabinet makers/contractors, artists, social activists, and parents. Our legal structure is a partnership, and as such, none of us holds individual title to the houses or land. Each member contributes an initial monetary investment and a monthly fee. Families or individuals live in their own homes.
Additionally, we share an organic garden and orchard, a large community center, a play area, a woodworking and maintenance shop, and a small barn and stables. Twice a month we gather for a community potluck dinner, business meeting (consensus decisions), and workday; however, informal smaller gatherings occur frequently. We try to recognize and cherish the different skills and insights of each individual and are committed to helping and encouraging one another.
