Reba Place Fellowship

Meet the neighbors:

Mission: Radical Discipleship, Service.

From www.ic.org/directory/reba-place-fellowship/:

Reba Place Fellowship is a Christian intentional community that began in 1957 in an ethnically diverse neighborhood in south Evanston. Its members of all ages currently live in large multifamily homes and apartment buildings in Evanston and the Rogers Park neighborhood of northern Chicago.

Reba’s calling is “to extend the mission of Jesus by being a community of love and discipleship, and by nurturing other such communities as God gives us grace.” Practically, this has meant sharing resources and needs through a common treasury, living within walking distance of each other, developing and maintaining affordable housing, sponsoring a Monday night potluck and seminar for students and neighbors, welcoming visitors, and supporting the healthy growth of new Christian communities. Fellowship members work in shared ministries and in “outside” earning jobs, mostly in the service professions.

Growing relationships with local universities, an expanding intern program, and an influx of younger members are renewing Reba’s vision and forming leaders for the next generation of Christian community.
