Meet the neighbors:

Mission: A community of neighbors committed to sustainably sharing life toward the common good.

From www.ic.org/directory/ascending-spiritshadow-mountain-cohousing/:

We are part of an extended family network of communities for those who recognize that we are currently in the midst of an unprecedented opportunity for spiritual growth and would like to engage with other like-minded individuals in order to greatly accelerate our own, as well as aid in our planet’s, spiritual evolution. We are connected with the nearby Starland Retreat Center/Campground.

Our communities follow Network for New Culture http://ncsocal.webs.com/nc-community-principles and Nonviolent Communication principles.

At this time, we are an expanded retrofit cohousing community. The homes are not directly adjacent but within a one mile radius. We are seeking to retrofit properties adjoining our existing ones into the community. This community is connected with the larger community via Transition Joshua Tree.

Our neighborhood is on a hillside overlooking the downtown area of the village of Joshua Tree, California from the north side. The are consists of small to medium size homes and are very inexpensive by Southern California standards.

Here's some info about the area from the local Chamber of Commerce:
"Joshua Tree is a community of artists, musicians, working families, businesspeople, telecommuters and retirees. Downtown has four art galleries, a yoga studio, two outfitters, a bakery with a shady courtyard for coffee and wi-fi, beautiful gift shops, great burgers and great vegan fare, even a pizza parlor that dishes up home-cooked Indian food. Saturday morning there's a Certified Farmers Market right in town.

Joshua Tree is easy to get to: just 30 minutes from Palm Springs and within three hours' drive of Los Angeles, San Diego and Las Vegas. Yet we're very far away. With our other-worldly landscape, starry nights and desert quiet, we call our neighborhood Planet Joshua Tree ... Like Earth, Only Better."
