Food Co-op Initiative: FCI aims to increase the number, success and sustainability of new food cooperatives delivering access to healthy food in diverse communities across the United States. It provides information, training and technical assistance, as well as seed capital, and engages in research to blaze, maintain and improve the development path for new food coops.

Meet the neighbors:

Established as a consumer & producer agricultural cooperative, the Marsh River Co-op opened a retail storefront in August 2014. Its focus is on promoting and selling food and other goods produced within a 10-mile radius of the Co-op, at an affordable price. This radius serves a low-income, low-access population and includes approximately 90 agricultural producers. As of November 2015, the Co-op had 92 producer and consumer members.
