Mission: See above... we're working on that.

From www.ic.org/directory/baynton-community-house/:

We live in a neighborhood of Philadelphia called Germantown that is on the outskirts of the city, but still in city limits. So we have denser housing and many businesses, but also a lot of green space. One of the most beautiful parks, the Wissahickon is just a mile or two away. Our house is a large mansion from the 1860s. Some of us have lived here for as many as 4-5 years, but we are only recently beginning to have more formal conversation about what this community living is all about! So the intentionality has been evolving and is just getting to a place of being more officially established. We've had a few of those meetings so far and will likely be continuing that process over the next few months. (as of July 2018)

There are 8 of us living here, 3 cats, and 1 dog. Our age range is 27-48.

Currently, we have a grocery and dinner share, where we combine and split all of our grocery purchases and we each cook for the house one meal a week. We share responsibilities of home upkeep and have monthly house meetings. We grow food at a local farm and do working member hours for a discount at our local food co-op. We interact often with our neighbors who are of varying degrees of communal living as well. We host a weekly game night, solstice and equinox gatherings, communication and meditation workshops, and we have a bit of a village vibe with a bread baker, kombucha maker, and public music events at the local garden. We also have an optional car share and are exploring other communal ownership possibilities.

Enough about us, now how bout you…
- We’re seeking community-minded people with experience and/or strong desire to live communally.
- Please be willing to put some roots down with us and see us more as family than roommates.
- Rooms vary from $250-$450/month and we split utilities that average $75/month.
- A security deposit of one month’s rent is required, and 2 month’s notice is required if/when you move out.

We have a room opening up for August or September 2018.
