The Orchard

Multi-generational cohousing community. Five Families. Four units plus a common space (two families share a unit). Quarter-acre lot with lots of fruit trees (hence the name). Solar panels, rain catchment, greywater, urban gardening, etc. Lots of children.

Some of us go back to college days living together in shared rentals. Did the same for many years in San Francisco. Then in Berkeley. Finally bought a place together in Berkeley where we lived as a co-op house for quite a few years. But the goal had always been full cohousing, so after about a 10-year process, we achieved that in wonderful Oakland, California.
