Mission: The Valley of Light is a sustainable spiritual community dedicated to the Principle of Peace and to the Universal Laws of Truth, Love, and Light.

The Valley of Light is a micro-community founded by members of The Oracle Institute, a 501(c)(3) educational charity and think tank which serves as an advocate for Peace and a vanguard for Conscious Evolution. Oracle operates an award-winning publishing house, a multi-faith spirituality school, and a global peacebuilding practice. Recently, Oracle organized the “Building the New World” conference at Radford University, which FIC co-sponsored.

The Valley of Light (“VOL”) is a sustainable, spiritual community located in a high energy region within the New River Valley of Virginia. VOL is nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains in a small town called Independence. We have 22 stunning acres along the New River, which is the oldest river in the Western Hemisphere and the third oldest river in the world.

VOL Members are aware that the world is on the verge of a major paradigm shift, the likes of which we have not witnessed in 2000 years. The worldwide resurgence of religious fundamentalism coupled with emerging New Age theosophies are just two indicators that we are in the midst of intense spiritual confusion and a looming sociological transformation.

VOL Members also are cognizant of the many unprecedented factors contributing to this turbulent period, including: global warming, food and water shortages, pandemic indicators, terrorism, energy limitations, and a lack of visionary focus by political and business leaders. We therefore believe that the key to a smooth transition into the 21st Century is the adoption of a new way of living based on an awareness of the interconnectedness of all life. To that end, Oracle and VOL are committed to creating a model micro-community using the most advanced community on the planet as our template: The Federation of Damanhur in Italy.

Currently, VOL is building the “Peace Pentagon,” our community center and headquarters for our charity, The Oracle Institute. From the Peace Pentagon, we will expand our peace programs to include a multi-media “HUB.” VOL is designing the HUB with Barbara Marx Hubbard and a team of IT experts. Ms. Hubbard has visited the Peace Pentagon and supports a bicoastal HUB network, with the East Coast HUB at the Valley of Light in Independence, Virginia, and the West Coast HUB in Berkeley, California.
