Vegetable Ranch

Mission: The Vegetable Ranch is an urban homestead utilizing the available land to grow as much food as possible using a Permaculture approach. To make our footprint small, we identify sustainable and ecologically-efficient systems. As we cultivate and maneuver within these systems, they define us.

The Vegetable Ranch is a large house shared by 5 adults. Home also to a large vegetable and fruit garden, chickens, a growing apiary and fruit orchard, inhabitants of the Ranch are encouraged to participate in homesteading activities such as growing and preserving harvest, cooking meals from scratch, crafting everything from condiments to health and beauty products to household cleaning products. Whatever products of interest which can be bought in a store, we endeavor to create at home from basic household ingredients. At the level each person is able to contribute around lives otherwise full with work and/or school, we like to dabble in DIY projects to save money, vote with our dollars, and be empowered to meet our basic needs.
