Mission: Religious, monastic, Christian communities seeking God according to the Rule of Saint Benedict.

From www.ic.org/directory/order-of-saint-benedict/:

The international Benedictine monastic order of sisters and brothers looks to Saint Benedict of Nursia, Italy, (480-547), the Patriarch of Western Monasticism, as its founder and inspiration. In the sixth century A.D., he wrote what we know as the Rule of Benedict or Regula Benedicti that continues to inspire and direct authentic Benedictine communities.

Visit the OSB website (www.osb.org), which features: the Rule of Benedict (original text in Latin and modern translations in several languages); a geographic Atlas of houses worldwide; an advanced search; "What's New," election results, academic and international institutions, general information, texts and articles, habit, saints, etc.
