Springtree Community

We are two married mid-age couples. Our commune (established in 1971) is on 120 rural acres. We share income, eat meals together, and organize work by preference. We are eclectic, independent, and frugal. While we are aging, this is not a retirement community. Our group goals are often expressed through work--gardening, orcharding, and tree planting; keeping chickens; firewood; and maintaining our two houses. We support ourselves with income from outside jobs, and engage in many area activities.

We intend to remain a small, close group and are not actively seeking members. We strive to keep the community flexible in meeting our changing needs for stability and adventure, individual activity, and group cohesiveness. We value commitment and compatibility.

Visitors are welcome by prior arrangement. In season, we can have apprentices for one to six months learning and practicing ecological gardening, community, and country-living skills. For more information, write and tell us about yourself.
