Meet the neighbors:

Mission: The intent of our community can be summarized by one word "support". We are here to support one another on our respective spiritual journeys with the practice of mindfulness meditation. We do this within the mission statement of the Wake Up Movement: "Young Buddhists and non-Buddhists for a Healthy and Compassionate Society".

As we see it, spiritual fulfillment is intrinsically interrelated with social justice and environmental sustainability. So we do our part to speak out against social injustice while we do our best to be sustainable (recycle, compost, grow our own food, shop wisely, eat healthy, etc). We are also all vegetarians on the border of being vegan. However, all of our actions are going to reflect where we are with respect to our spiritual condition, so we do our best to practice: "Peace in oneself, peace in the world" -Thich Nhat Hanh.

Our aspiration is to "be the change we want to see in the world" -Ghandi.
We also see our home as a resource for the community. We open up our doors to practice meditation together every Friday.

We love to cook and share meals together. We shop together, clean & do chores together, play board games together, go out to eat together, dance together, etc... We all own bikes, love to hike, camp and get out doors! We have a community garden in the back yard with many fruiting trees (fig, avocado, guava, pear, apple, orange, lemon & lime).

We have couchsurfers and friends sleeping in the common areas constantly. However, we have a balance of privacy and all guest's stays over 1 night must be approved by all house mates for it to occur.

We are located just west of highway 163, south of Genesee and east of Linda Vista road. Our house is a decent sized 1-story, 5 bedrooms, 3 baths and two huge common areas (one of which is a dedicated space for meditation, yoga and community activities). We generally have 6 housemates including 1 couple.
