Mission: Local, justice, environmental

From www.ic.org/directory/millstone-co-op/:

Founded in 1999, Millstone Co-op is a community of 11 people living and working in Somerville (and the broader Metro area) to make our corner of the world a better place to be. We also strive to make our house a positive, supportive and fun place to call home.

At Millstone, we share chores and other responsibilities, as well as many of our meals. House members prepare and serve vegetarian dinners three times per week, and guests and friends are always welcome for dinner or for one of our community brunches. We value local community, social justice, diversity, and environmental sustainability, and we try to make choices in what we buy, eat, and do that reflect these values. We also make decisions by consensus and place an emphasis on open communication.

Individually or as a house, we love to grow things indoors and out; we love making, listening to, and dancing to music; we get involved in local and national politics; we get addicted to really good TV series on DVD (e.g. The Office, Lost, and Project Runway); we brew, bake and can; we read the local free papers and national news blogs (and sometimes juicy tabloids); we go to drag shows, karaoke nights, salsa dances, and bluegrass concerts; we frequent bars and libraries; and mostly if you're into something we're all ears (and eyes, hands, feet, etc.)!
