Mission: Cohousing, consensus

From www.ic.org/directory/coflats-stroud/:

There are now 2 CoFlats Communities in Stroud
Coflats Lansdown and Coflats Sladbrook. They were both developed by the Cohousing Company, which devdeloped Springhill Cohousing in 2003.
The first, Coflats Lansdown is an established retrofit cohousing community. All the units are within the main building of what was once a Unitarian Church, built in 1835. The common house, on two floors, is in the apse of the church.
The project was completed in 2007. Stroud is in the west of England and is the location of Springhill Cohousing, the first new-build cohousing in Britain. Stroud has four organic cafes, great shops, art venues, community assisted agriculture, and the only "green" town council and mayor.
Coflats Lansdown consists of 14 self-contained units. The common house has a kitchen, dining area, and a laundry with two washing machines and a dryer.
All residents are members of the car share club. It has two automatic Peugeot 107's for the exclusive use of Coflats. The car is very efficient and does about 60 mpg (imperial gallons, not US gallons!)
Coflats is a three-minute walk from the town centre, where there is 90-minute train service to London and local bus and train connections.
There is a sunny courtyard and garden with secure parking for 20 bicycles; each flat has a locker by the bicycle space.
Members make decisions by consensus.
As at November 2008, there are two flats for sale--check the website for details.
Nearly all the residents happen to be over 50; this was not designed, that's just the age group that were attracted to Coflats. We are open to those of any age.
CoFlats Sladbrook was established in 2015 and was quickly fully occupied. The residents are mostly in their 20's and 30's, a different demographic to Coflats Lansdown and Springhill.
There are 7 flats, each around 600- 800 sq ft. A large common house of 2,000 sq ft containing dining room, kitchen, sauna, guest room, laundry, gym and store rooms.
CoFlats Badbrook is the first retrofit of a Victorian building to achieve an Energy Performance Certification of 'A' for each flat.
