Meet the neighbors:

Mission: HNA is a community group dedicated to stewardship of the Halcyon Neighborhood in South Berkeley. We encourage positive, proactive, partnership-oriented approaches to improving the well-being of our neighborhood.

From www.ic.org/directory/halcyon-commons-cooperative-urban-neighborhood/:

This isn't cohousing but a cooperative urban neighborhood, the center of which, Halcyon Commons, is a park designed and built by neighbors where there once was a parking lot in the middle of the street (process begun in 1992, completed in 1996, with new features added in 2008). Through Halcyon Neighborhood Association, neighbors have organized regular community potlucks, a strong crime watch, community animal and child gatherings in the park, a regular email newsletter that reaches 540-plus households, strong disaster preparedness, regular community park cleanups and weeding/mulching work parties, concerts in the park, and other celebrations. Halcyon neighborhood is a wonderful place to live, with high walkability to transit, restaurants, grocery, etc.

[Please note: We are NOT in the position to provide real estate or rental information, and we're unable to host visitors. We do NOT offer housing, so please do not contact us to inquire about housing. While we welcome new community-minded folks to join our neighborhood, it's up to you to look into the usual sources for an urban area to find housing options here; our website gives you a map of the general boundaries of the neighborhood (the Google map isn't our neighborhood, just our zip code! we're located Telegraph to Adeline, Ashby to Woolsey, in South Berkeley near the Oakland border, though we also have a number of people who live a bit outside our boundaries who participate regularly).]
