Mission: Our mission is to grow a community that values and cultivates a supportive network of friends, who would like to engage in farm-based sustainable lifestyle practices, and who strive to reduce their carbon footprint as much as possible.

Hello! Our vision is to establish an intentional community on 74 acres of land that we own in the upper Taconic Valley of New York, just west of the the Berkshire/Taconic range. The land has a mix of fertile fields, ponds, streams, meadows, wetlands and forest. We are not far from cultural centers and small cities including Pittsfield and the Berkshire region. Our space is home to Wyomanock Farm and Wyomanock Center for Sustainable Living.

Wyomanock Farm cultivates three quarters of an acre of organically grown vegetables, raises a flock of about 100 free range laying hens (on pasture and fed organic, local grain), and has a small herd of Scottish Highland Cattle for beef production. We enjoy producing as much of our own food as possible. In 2014, we established a small on-site farm stand which is open year-round. With additional help on the farm, we'd like to attend local farmers markets and develop local or regional wholesale markets.

Wyomanock Center for Sustainable Living was founded in 2010. It is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to increasing public understanding of sustainable living through experiential learning opportunities. We work with individuals, groups, and the community to encourage sustainability by fostering an appreciation of the natural environment; by demonstrating organic agriculture, renewable energy, and natural building; and by encouraging a locally-based economy and healthy, culturally rich community. Since its inception, Wyomanock Center has offered events, farm and nature based educational workshops, regular monthly potlucks, a solstice celebration, film viewings on our focus topics, assisting with the development of a community garden in a nearby urban area, and solar shower community construction project.

We are looking for others with similar values and ambitions, including a desire to live simply, people who continuously work to incorporate sustainable practices into their lifestyle, and who have a desire to be a part of the Farm and Center in some capacity. We welcome people of any age, ethnic and religious background, sexual orientation, gender identity, and dietary philosophies/needs.

A little background: Thom purchased the land in 2002, started living here full time in 2003 with his two young sons, and began developing the Farm and Center in 2010. Julie met Thom in 2012 at a local farming conference and moved to the land in late 2013. Since that time, we have been working to further develop the Farm, Center, and Intentional Community. Over the past few years we have had several individuals live here for varying lengths of time and with varied levels of involvement in the work we are doing. At this moment, it's just us two!
