Mission: working yoga retreat centre

Inspired by master yogi Baba Hari Dass and founded in 1981, the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga is the oldest spiritual retreat centre on Canada's west coast. We run yoga retreats and yoga teacher training programs, and we also rent our facility to like-minded groups. In addition, we also operate a small scale organic farm that helps to feed our residents and guests. Most of the work done at the Centre is on a volunteer basis, and each year we also offer multiple sessions of our 10-week residential karma yoga program, which includes instruction in yoga theory and practice. We typically have between 20 and 40 residents during the late spring, summer, and early fall, and a much smaller residential community from December through March.

The Centre sits on 69 acres of land in the heart of scenic Salt Spring Island. Six acres are farmed organically and most of the produce goes to our kitchen for residents and guests. We have a small alternative school (K-6) and a wellness centre providing Ayurvedic and other treatments.

We welcome applications for our Residential Karma Yoga program, and we also have periodic job opportunities that pay a small stipend that are available for skilled workers.
