Mission: Multigenerational community,

From www.ic.org/directory/oakleigh-meadow-cohousing/:

SEEKING NEW MEMBERS! WE HAVE LAND, PLANS FOR 28 UNITS, AIMING TO BREAK GROUND SPRING 2019.
Oakleigh Meadow Cohousing (OMC) is an intergenerational community of independent households committed to finding purpose and a sense of belonging through working, learning and playing together in a neighborhood designed to make a small, beautiful footprint on the land.

OMC, Eugene, Oregon's first cohousing community will consist of 28 units; units are still available. We are couples with children, single parents, working singles, and retired folks who believe that life is richer when people of all ages come together to support and share their lives. We value each person for their unique contribution to the community. We want to be nurtured by the companionship offered to one another and to be enjoyed for being ourselves. Our values include finding a balance of simplicity, economy, and quality in developing and maintaining our neighborhood.

Oakleigh Meadow Cohousing will be built on 2.2 acres of land situated on the beautiful Willamette River which runs through the heart of Eugene. More than 25 miles of pedestrian-bike path running along both sides of the river connects us to nearby parks, a thriving downtown, and the University of Oregon.

Eugene is a city of 156,000 located in the Willamette Valley, which sits east of the Pacific Ocean and west of the Cascade Mountains. It is a city known for its natural beauty, recreational activities (cycling, running, rafting, fly fishing), focus on the arts, and activist political leanings. Temperatures are mild year round, with warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Winter snowfall is sporadic and rarely accumulates more than an inch or two. With an hour's drive west from Eugene you can be scouting for whales and enjoying the sound of the surf while walking along sandy ocean beaches. Or head east for an hour to explore the endless wilderness hiking trails and spectacular glaciated mountains of the Oregon Cascade mountains; continue a bit further to reach the fascinating high desert eastern Oregon with its intriguing lava caves and abundant wildlife.

We know that the decision to join a cohousing community is a major life consideration. We have a mentoring process to help you decide whether Oakleigh Meadow is a good fit for you and your family.

Oakleigh Meadow's site design, which includes five unit types of 2, 3 and 4 bedrooms and our large central common house has been completed and can be viewed upon request. In the meantime, check out our community's 3D virtual “fly-by“ at oakleighmeadow.org.
